Extracurricular Activities

Robotics

St. Alban Roe School’s Roe-botics Club participates in the Clavius Project. The Clavius Project was started in 2014 at St. Louis University High School. The Robotics club is a learning club for students interested in Technology and Robotics. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) concepts are found and utilized in planning, designing, building, programming, and operating the robots. Students will use LEGO Spike Prime kits to assemble and program a LEGO Spike Prime robot.

The St. Alban Roe-botics Club is an after-school activity. This is a semester-plus commitment that requires students to be responsible and in good academic standing. 6- 8th grade students are eligible for the St. Alban Roe-botics Club. Club members work in teams and prepare for a Jamboree that is held at SLUH.

Book Club

Lunchtime book club meetings meet once a month. Students discuss a selected book and enjoy a special dessert.

Chess Club

Students are invited to join the SAR Chess Club. Beginner and experienced chess players are welcome to join Mrs. Romano in the Library on Tuesdays after school from 3:00 – 3:30 pm.

Student Ambassadors

Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in the Student Ambassador program. These students are the first line at greeting parents and visitors at All School Masses and other school events. They may be called upon to provide service to the school as needed.

Student Council

The Student Council (STUCO) is comprised of students elected by their classmates in grades 6-8. The elected officers are president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer and class representatives. STUCO takes on many different responsibilities and fundraising opportunities throughout the school year. In the spirit of giving, they use the proceeds to purchase needed items for the school or offering a fun school event.

Scale Model Club

Scale Model Club meets weekly from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm and is open to 7th and 8th grade students.  Students will learn: a new hobby, improved fine motor skills and 3D visualization, translating 2D instructions into 3D construction, and exploring engineering and modeling concepts.  Students can choose model kits they would like to work on.  Led by Mr. Hoeckelman who has 30+ years of experience in the hobby and hosts “Modeling with the Matts” on YouTube and Facebook.

Theatre

A much loved event at St. Alban Roe School is our Spring school musical. Middle School students work together to put on this magical production through a second semester school elective. Students are offered opportunities to get involved in all areas of theater. Stage crew, lighting, music, set production, and performing are all ways to participate. It is a don’t miss event for the school community.
