St. Alban Roe School’s Roe-botics Club participates in the Clavius Project. The Clavius Project was started in 2014 at St. Louis University High School. The Robotics club is a learning club for students interested in Technology and Robotics. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) concepts are found and utilized in planning, designing, building, programming, and operating the robots. Students will use LEGO Spike Prime kits to assemble and program a LEGO Spike Prime robot.
The St. Alban Roe-botics Club is an after-school activity. This is a semester-plus commitment that requires students to be responsible and in good academic standing. 6- 8th grade students are eligible for the St. Alban Roe-botics Club. Club members work in teams and prepare for a Jamboree that is held at SLUH.
Lunchtime book club meetings meet once a month. Students discuss a selected book and enjoy a special dessert.
Students are invited to join the SAR Chess Club. Beginner and experienced chess players are welcome to join Mrs. Romano in the Library on Tuesdays after school from 3:00 – 3:30 pm.
The St. Alban Roe School band/orchestra is run and conducted by Mr. Joe Bozzi. Students in Grades 4-8 can join the band which practices before school from 7:10 – 7:40 AM. There is a fee for this program.
Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in the Student Ambassador program. These students are the first line at greeting parents and visitors at All School Masses and other school events. They may be called upon to provide service to the school as needed.
The Student Council (STUCO) is comprised of students elected by their classmates in grades 6-8. The elected officers are president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer and class representatives. STUCO takes on many different responsibilities and fundraising opportunities throughout the school year. In the spirit of giving, they use the proceeds to purchase needed items for the school or offering a fun school event.
St. Alban Roe School students in Grades 5-8 have the opportunity to join the Bellarmine Speech team and compete in speech competitions. This is a wonderful way for students to develop and improve their public speaking skills by memorizing and performing material in Humorous, Serious, and Duet categories. Students compete in three speech meets with teams from other schools during the school year. A Final Meet with all participating schools is held at the end of each school year.
A much loved event at St. Alban Roe School is our Spring school musical. Middle School students work together to put on this magical production through a second semester school elective. Students are offered opportunities to get involved in all areas of theater. Stage crew, lighting, music, set production, and performing are all ways to participate. It is a don’t miss event for the school community.
