Students will acquire a solid foundation and knowledge of
processes and techniques in 2-D and 3-D Art
i.e. drawing, painting, mixed media, weaving, sculpture
the elements and principles of art as it increases from kindergarten through eighth grade
the vocabulary to explain perceptions about and evaluations of visual arts
visual arts in historical and cultural contexts
Music:
Kindergarten begins with exploring concepts such as steady beat, high/low, fast/slow, loud/quiet, singing skills, and instrument techniques. They learn how to read real music notes in the form of quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests.
Spanish:
K-2: This part of the curriculum is an introduction to Spanish by having fun at the same time learning Spanish by songs, which helps us identify the first words, language sounds,(pronunciation) and basic knowledge.
Language Arts:
Superkids! The language arts focus is on literature, reading, writing, listening, spelling, phonics, and grammar. This program entails resources and activities for all levels within each story. We also participate in the Accelerated Reading program. Please look for an updated goal sheet to come home each quarter. The students will read a book and follow up with an assessment for each book. Students will have the opportunity to take an AR test every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday morning.
Math:
Progress in Mathematics! We will be reviewing basic addition and subtraction skills, (2-3 digits), fractions (parts of whole), measurement, geometry, time, money, place value to 1,000, and introduction to multiplication. Daily practice in memorization of addition and subtraction to 20 is very important for your child to be successful in Math this year. Flash cards are awesome or math games. We will be using Rocket Math this school year.
Religion:
We are starting a new curriculum called Word of Life. This is a very important year as we celebrate 2 Sacraments- First Reconciliation and First Communion. We also are starting a supplemental curriculum called Theology of the Body, which uses stories to teach the kids important truths about what it means to be human. In second grade, we read The Quiltmaker’s Gift and Saint George and the Dragon. We discuss themes such as gift-of-self, original unity, and the dignity of the human person, along with other themes throughout the year. We will be completing these lessons about once a month.
Social Studies:
Students will learn about rules and laws, Community, Earth’s resources, learn about continents, countries, states, and cities, and map skills. The students will learn about world monuments and where they are located.
Science:
Students will learn about life, fun experiments, plants, animals,weather, and water cycle. We will have a few projects throughout the year.

I love the opportunity to connect with families and build lasting relationships over the years.
